How I build things
Every app here was built to solve a problem that I myself had. I start from first principles and build things that I'd be pleased to use for my own needs. Then I expand out from there with feedback from my users!
For example, Greyline FT8 was born of my own desire to carry the lightest-weight POTA station possible. Lugging around a heavy, power-hungry Windows laptop was not on my bingo card. But using my phone or an iPad was just the ticket, if only there was a solid software package!
Similarly, We Have Wine at Home! was built to solve my own problem of keeping track of my wine collection. I was tired of getting burned by cloud-backed apps that would vanish and take my data with them.
As an open source and privacy advocate, I am a huge fan of you remaining in control of your data. I collect nothing about you and operate no cloud backends. Everything you do belongs to you, is easy to export, and processed securely on-device.
